Eldrick Tobin - A made up name used in RPG's, Usenet and Internet Forum postings. The person behind the name has postponed posting on Usenet {alt.games.final-fantasy, alt.hentai.sailor-moon, alt.disgusting.stories.my-imagination (which he founded, but has lost to pedophiles), alt.fan.sailor-moon, alt.fan.utena, and others} indefinitely due to personal reasons and post volume. Searches on the name show interesting results with few that you could say he felt real pride in. It's how the person behind the name IS. One reference to a Xenogears Walkthrough he is startled to see still giving him credit for finding an object that apparently no one had ever found before him and posted anywhere someone could find read about. A potentially highly in accurate statement.

The name itself is a bit of a Hodge Podge and shortened from it's original Wording. Originally it was:

Eldrick Windwalker

This then morphed into

Eldrick "Windwalker" Tobin

Then the Windwalker was dropped into it's current Wording. Tobin here is a bastardization of the German /Toben/. This word means 'raging' or 'storming'. Coupled with /eldrick/ which is a name meaning Ancient Rule (/eld/=Ancient, /rick/=rule, ruler, king, sovereign), you can get 'Storming Ruler'. Several readings of the name are appropriate as the person behind the name has been known to rage to the point of losing touch with his body as it seeks to END something or someone.
